The Cotswolds best supplier of quality Sculptures
During the early 17th century the British
garden had become an extension of the aesthetics of the
domestic interior. Littered with statues excavated in Italy
the placing of sculpture was now becoming truly English and
during the next century vases in baroque, Rocco and Adam
styles proliferated in Britain
As the glories of Rome became admired in the Englishman's
back garden, so more people began to appreciate these
statues. Various types of materials have been used to make
garden statuary, such as stone, marble, bronze and for the
interior works, plaster.
Many original sculptures from days gone by have slowly
disappeared due to erosion and theft, also the restoration
has proved either too expensive or can destroy the character
of the original.
The Sculpture Studios was established with the task of creating
replicas from various restorations thereby allowing the
general public the benefit of these extraordinary works of
art but without the expense normally associated with the
originals. In addition, the pieces made by Cotswold Statues
and our studios in the area have an unmistakeable sense of age, so as to retain
a certain likeness to the original work and also to keep in
tune with any existing sculpture that may be in the
purchasers possession.
All garden sculpture has been weather and frost proofed so
as to greatly reduce the effects of the elements.
